Organic
We believe passionately in keeping native breeds of sheep and cattle, in looking after our environment and producing top quality food. With these aims in mind, we put the farm into organic conversion and put much of the farm into a wide ranging environmental stewardship scheme. Our organic status is certified by the Soil Association.

Beef
We keep cattle well suited to our upland environment; Aberdeen Angus, Hereford and Beef Shorthorn. These breeds graze the species-rich pasture in a sympathetic way. Our cattle grow at their own pace on a natural diet of mothers milk, grass, hay and silage, and they mature quite late.

Lamb and Mutton
Our lamb and mutton comes from a mixture of breeds again, but mainly the Derbyshire Gritstone sheep, fed on the sweet herb rich banks of Ossams Hill Farm. For those who like something a little different our mutton gives a stronger flavour and is highly recommended. We have some great seasonal recipes to try.

Connections
We are very proud here at Ossams Hill Farm to have been granted the National Trust fine farm produce award for the high quality of our beef and our lamb. We hang our beef for three weeks so that it will be as good as you can get.

Explore
By the way, when you come and buy our beef and lamb, come and explore too. There are some beautiful walks on and around Ossams Hill Farm; the Manifold Valley is one of the lesser known treats mainly enjoyed by walkers ‘in the know’. As part of our Higher Level Stewardship scheme we have put much of the farm into open access so that you are free to explore our limestone dalesides and view the majestic scenery.
